Motor Controller
A unique servomotor controller ideal for use with a wide range of two-axis scanning systems, from lightweight to heavy duty. The MCPA can be set up in minutes and offers a choice of scan patterns, speeds and movement parameters. The system gives the operator complete control of the scanning process from a PC through a simple Windows-based program.
The MCPA allows you to use your PC as an instrument panel, putting you in full control of the scanning process. There is no complicated software package – everything can be controlled from just one window. When using it for the first time with a new scanner, an additional easy-to-use software module enables rapid set-up of the servo control parameters. This guarantees smooth, error-free operation of the scanner and dramatically simplifies a process that is often the main hurdle in setting up a servo-driven system. The parameters are then stored in both the controller hardware and the normal scanner control window.
A range of different scan patterns, movement ranges, speeds and accelerations can be saved as a Windows file and recalled for later use. When limit switches or obstacles halt the normal operation of the scanner, a clear warning is given on the screen display. Error sensing within the software ensures that no system damage will occur as a result of unexpected stops. Everything is designed for ease of use and the program contains an operation log to provide a simple summary of events and to highlight any errors, so that corrective action can be taken.
Benefits:
- Turns your computer into an instrument panel.
- Can be used with any scanner and any data acquisition equipment.
- Allows choice of scan patterns, movement parameters, acceleration and speeds.
- Easy to set up and store your settings.
- Based on 19-inch rack system.
- Operated by a simple Windows-based program installed in the PC.
- Emergency stop button plus access for remote emergency stop.
Specifications:
- Compatible with standard Windows systems (Windows 98, NT or 2000, XP).
- PC connects to the controller by means of RS 232 or USB connection.
- Can handle up to 24 volt motors and up to 2 amps continuous.
- Provides up to 4 amps boost over continuous rated current when accelerating and decelerating.
- Motor control software can be run on the same PC as data acquisition software – this prevents delays and makes for speedier set-up and scanning.
